DARIUS the MEDE
[20] AFTER BELTESHAZAR, DARIUS the MEDE, who is NABHORHIDOS (NABONIDUS), reigned for one year after he had killed BELTESHAZAR; now he had then been king for sixteen years. And in that year he set up DANIEL above all his nobles, and therefore DANIEL was envied and cast into the den of lions for the first time; and when he was delivered they (i.e. the men who envied him) perished.
